Happy New Year! I'm now posted to Chemical, Biological and Radiological Defence 39 School of Combat Engineers. Looking forward to training, everyone seems to be promising us a good time ahead of us. And the extra allowance would certainly come in handy!
Today is my first day, the facilities are old and they were in super dusty when we handed our bunks so we had a thorough area cleaning but still ended up getting punished 80! Everyone was complaining about aches and pains, while i was happily doing it trying to catch up on the push ups which i haven't done in such a while.
Never thought i'd say this but i cant wait to get my 3stripes! Well, during my time at Nee Soon i found out something which a not so intelligent sgt said to be very true, "if you don't get the job you love, then learn to love the job that you have gotten". Despite his inability to handle tasks and his incapabilities i realised this phrase that came out from this guy made alot of sense. And i'm learning and appreciating that though as a speacialist we do not get the kind of prestige and pride and respect as the officers, we have other roles to play and we have it alot easier than the cadets which kinda makes things even out in a sense.
Though the system will never be perfect, and will in fact be far from it, we should just learn to adapt to the surrounding instead of standing in time complaining. Ironically i have received enlightment from the words of someone i have little respect for. Life is pandora's box.
